Printmaking
After deciding on an image, the students carved away part of their design and ran their first prints. They then carved away more of their design and inked a second color. Registering the design was tricky but the students worked hard and came up with some amazing results. Close-up Owls

Toiling Foil
Abstract designs were first embossed into tooling foil and then color was added. The designs were then extended from the foil onto paper resulting in some beautiful artwork. Symbolic Self-Portraits
There is many ways to draw a self-portrait. For this project, each student selected and drew symbols to answer the questions "Who am I? How do I see myself? How do other people see me? How do I want to be seen?"
Pop ArtSymbols can send a message, while telling a lot about the messenger. After looking at the work of pop artist Jim Dine, each student created their own stencil, using a symbol which had meaning to them. Color was added with chalk pastels to create the mood.
Street Art
Could the allure of Street Art be that it provides artists a means of expression in a non conventional manner? Perhaps the appeal is personal self- expression created for a wide audience. After learning about Street Art and its many styles, each students created his/her own wildstyle piece which focused on a personally meaningful word. |
